Kick off spring gardening with this free event featuring displays, workshops, and speakers. The day focuses on timely topics that make gardening more sustainable.
No preregistration is required, but you must arrive at 10 a.m. to register for the day's workshops.

Have a great idea for a community improvement project?
Apply for a New Yorkers for Better Neighborhoods Award! Citizens Committee for New York City awards grants of $500 to $3,000 to volunteer-led groups to work on projects that bring neighbors together and that have positive community impacts.

- Grow Together
Want to start the growing season with a bang?
The Grow Together is now in its 26th year and GreenThumb its 31st, come and celebrate and start the growing season with a bang. This is the only opportunity of the year to meet and greet this many people from the community gardening world in one event! The day's itinerary includes:
- Live return performance by the Mad Hot Ballroom Dancers
- Keynote address by Bobby Wilson from the American Community Gardening Association
- Remarks from Director Edie Stone and Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe
- Over 40 gardening workshops
- More than 30 greening groups tabling/participating
- Fun activities for youth throughout the day in the gymnasium (balloon man, arts, crafts, games and sports)
- Annual GTGT garden raffle
Pre-Register by March 8th for $3 you get lunch, 2010 GT Grow Together T-Shirt and Workshops. Register at the door for $5 you get lunch and workshops but are not guaranteed a T-Shirt.

- Neighborhood Leadership Institute’s ‘Group Structure’ workshop
Interested in building and maintaining an effective neighborhood association or community group?
We will cover:
Democratic Process: Keep people interested and involved in your group by ensuring that they have input in decision-making and that they are able to elect leaders.
By-Laws: Develop a set of rules that spell out the group's purpose, roles and responsibilities of members, election procedure, and process for making decisions.
Committees: Establish small groups within the organization to focus and take leadership on specific issues and projects.

- Going Green in Queens

The 3rd Annual Going Green in Queens is designed to bring together people to learn about environment issues and how they can be solved! This is an annual networking, educational and environmental forum open free to the public. This event hosts workshops on various topics like tree pruning, bioswales, recycling, alternative energy resources, planting, organic living and many more topics. Come and learn and have a positive impact on our environment.
