- Want to learn how to build your own tree guard?
  
  Attend Citizens new Build Your Own Tree Guard workshop! At the workshop, you will learn everything you need to know in order to build a tree guard for under $75 - which is a pretty good deal considering that most tree guards cost nearly $1,000.
  
  Space is a bit limited so if you are interested in attending please RSVP.

- Get involved for Earth Day!
  
  Join Bronx Green-Up and the Butterfly Project for this Earth Day event, which will include information tables and activities on many green initiatives. The Butterfly Project will be distributing butterfly plants for planting in community, school, and public gardens.

- E-waste Recycling
- Have any electronics lying around you’re looking to recycle?
  
  The LES Ecology Center will be holding 7 electronic waste ("e-waste") recycling events this spring to help you responsibly dispose of all of your unwanted or broken gadgets. All you have to do is bring your e-waste to the collection event.

- The Golden Apple Awards
- Receive recognition for the great work your school is doing!
  
  The Golden Apple Awards offers schools in NYC recognition for documenting their model school recycling programs, waste prevention initiatives, or beautification projects.
  
  The Golden Apple Awards consists of three contests (TrashMasters! Super Recyclers awards, Trashmasters! Reduce & Reuse Challenge awards, and TrashMasters! Team Up to Clean Up awards). In each contest, schools compete against other schools within their grade division (elementary, intermediate, or high school) for borough and citywide honors.
  
  Project Entry Binders must be received on or before April 30, 2010.
