12/5/2009 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Citizens Committee for New York City 305 Seventh Avenue, 15th Floor (between 27 and 28 Streets) Manhattan
Is your mailbox and e-mail flooded on a regular basis by complex offers for credit?
Have you or a friend or a family member had their Social Security number or some other personal information used to open credit cards and other financial accounts under your name?
The New York State Consumer Protection Board (CPB), the State’s top consumer watchdog and "think tank,” will advise consumers how to choose and use credit wisely, as well as why and how to check your credit report. In addition, the CPB, which operates the State’s new Identity Theft Prevention and Mitigation Program, will provide information and resources to help New Yorkers prevent identity theft and assist victims in addressing the consequences of this crime.
Presenter: Jorge Montalvo (NYS Consumer Protection Board)
