Composting Grant

The deadline to apply for 2014 has passed.

Composting transforms organic waste into rich soil. Use it to cultivate flowers, vegetables, herbs or anything else you and your neighbors want to grow. If you’d like to organize a composting initiative on your block or expand a current composting program, apply for one of these grants, available in all five boroughs thanks to the generosity of the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board (SWAB) and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.

Hurricane Relief Grants

We understand that Hurricane Sandy relief efforts go beyond the immediate aftermath. Citizens Committee is awarding grants of $2,000 to support volunteer-led hurricane relief efforts.

Neighborhood Grants

Have an idea to improve your neighborhood? We want to hear about it, whether it’s community gardening, after-school yoga, or beekeeping. Citizens Committee awards up to $3,000 to resident-led groups for a variety of improvement projects in low-income neighborhoods.

Love Your Block

From planting trees to clearing vacant lots to installing new traffic signals, Love Your Block awards $1000 to citizens committed to beautifying their neighborhoods. Offered in partnership with the City of New York.
