Public School Green Team Grant

Citizens Committee is collaborating with the New York City Department of Sanitation to award grants of up to $500 for projects carried out by public school green teams. Examples of projects we will support include building or expanding a school garden, enhancing a school recycling program, creating school sustainability events, purchasing eco-friendly giveaway items, and providing uniforms/t-shirts for the Green Team. 

Important Dates

  • Application deadline: 11:59 pm, Friday, March 23rd
  • Grant winners will be announced by Friday, March 30th

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applications are accepted from NYC public schools, grades K-12.
  • *Preference will be given to recycling and waste related projects.
  • Schools must have a Green Team, or be in the process of creating one.
  • Green Team must have at least five members.
  • Students must have a signed photo release.
  • A teacher is responsible for submitting the application and being the primary contact.
  • Green Teams funded in Fall 2017 are NOT eligible to apply.
