Arts in Parts

Grant Year:  2017

Arts in Parts is using gardening as a tool for teaching science, art, and nutrition to youth and their families. The garden is serving as a workshop space where students learn topics ranging from composting, seed planting, butterfly conservation, and art. The group is encouraging youth to play an active role in addressing climate change and environmental stewardship through hands-on learning.

Grant Year:  2015

Arts in Parts is relocating and rebuilding its garden. It is building a clay oven to bake bread and completing a greenhouse over the course of the summer. The group is also teaching youth how to grow food, the benefits of good nutrition, and about the natural environment in the Rockaways.
