Breukelen Sight Community Garden

Breukelen Sight Community Garden is improving its garden to make its food production more sustainable and encourage community unity. The group is installing a fence to secure its garden, installing solar panels, and replacing a wobbly gazebo with one that is structurally sound to encourage community meeting.

 

Grant Year:  2016

Breukelen Sight Garden is repairing and renovating its Children's Garden to encourage more engagement with the open green space. The group is securing its raised beds to continue growing food,  reenforcing its fish pond, building a fence around the perimeter of the garden, and hosting workshops for youth on the fundamentals of gardening and food production.

Grant Year:  2015

Breukelen Sight Community Garden is working with youth in their NYCHA development to create new pocket gardens that youth will learn to cultivate and maintain with vegetables and flowers. They are also conducting workshops for youth to teach them the fundamentals of gardening and to encourage healthier food choices.
