Project snapshot
Bronx Eats is launching an innovative food bag program in 2025, expanding its successful market and education model to provide 30 families (scaling to 60 by 2026) with weekly bags of seasonal produce and pantry staples at a subsidized rate. Student interns from Lehman College and Fordham University will assemble the bags, aligning ingredients with chef demonstrations to encourage healthy, plant-based cooking at home. To support this expansion, Bronx Eats will hire a market manager to oversee assembly, diversify vendors, and increase EBT sales; a social media manager to enhance digital outreach; and an education coordinator to develop curriculum and expand DOE partnerships. This initiative aims to reach 150-200 students monthly and double the market’s customer base to 400 weekly visitors by 2026. Designed for sustainability, participant fees will fund future seasons, creating a lasting community health infrastructure that integrates food access with education.
