Love Your Block Grant

Love Your Block is an initiative of NYC Service in partnership with Citizens Committee for New York City that provides a unique opportunity for neighborhood groups to transform and improve their communities through local action while leveraging City services.

Resident-led volunteer groups each receive a grant of $1,000 and City services provided by the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Sanitation of New York, and the Department of Environmental Protection to help improve their block. In addition to the grant and City services, groups receive project planning and community building assistance as well as support with local media coverage for the project.

Applications are accepted from volunteer-led groups based primarily in low-income neighborhoods in all five boroughs of New York City. Groups may be long-standing, newly established or in the process of forming, and are not required to have non-profit or 501(c)(3) status. Our grants are not for: individuals; for-profit projects; businesses; organizations with paid staff; religious, fraternal, and partisan organizations; groups with an annual budget of greater than $70,000; projects affiliated with staffed organizations. We look for projects that: are clear and thoughtful; address important community concerns; contribute to building stronger communities through neighbors working together; and result in concrete and sustainable improvements.
