Dana Rachlin, a Brooklyn native who launched NYC Together [a 2016 Citizens Committee Neighborhood Grant recipient] to help troubled youths, said students come to the 90th Precinct after school every Tuesday for a full semester, attending workshops, going on field trips and receiving tutoring from officers.

Over the past 10 weeks, six high school students from NYC Together and Usher Raymond IV’s Usher’s New Look Youth Leadership Organization have worked with officers from the 90th Police Precinct and a professional artist to create a shared vision of positive police-community relations for a mural located in front of the 90th Precinct station house in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The mural will a backdrop to a community garden that is funded by Open Space Alliance and the Citizens Committee of NYC.

Some bicyclists decided that they would rather visit chickens than grill them during the Memorial Day weekend. They biked to various chicken coops and community gardens along a 5-mile route for the second annual "Chicken Coopapalooza" on Saturday. Members of the Woodhaven Cultural and Historical Society have launched a pop-up museum they hope will help inspire the next generation of historians in Queens and beyond... The banners cost about $2,000 and were paid for by donations, City Council funds and a grant from Citizens Committee for New York City. Eventually, the group hopes to find a permanent site for a museum that would also contain historical items, documents and oral histories from residents.
