Project snapshot

Himalayan Deli Inc is a family-owned business located in Elmhurst, NY that serves diverse communities including students, hospital workers, seniors, and other essential workers. With the grant funds, they plan to upgrade their store by repairing the basement/storage area damaged during Hurricane Ida, increasing storage capacity, and covering operating costs due to decreased revenue. As a Bhutanese immigrant, they support the local Buddhist dharma centers providing mental health support for many immigrants who work hard doing odd-end jobs. Himalayan Deli Inc is committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment for its customers, while also helping to strengthen the mental health of the growing Himalayan immigrant population in NYC.
