Project snapshot

Bluestockings Cooperative is a worker-owned bookstore, café, and community space in the Lower East Side for over 23 years. The grant would be used to purchase an espresso machine, lighting fixtures, and other equipment to make physical upgrades to their food truck. They prioritize making unhoused neighbors feel welcome through their Safer Spaces Policy. Bluestockings has been a space of radical acceptance and respite for locals, offering free wifi, over $7,000 exchanged through their ?give and take wall?, naloxone kits and training, free fentanyl testing strips, and a free store with basic necessities. They also host hot meals on the first Tuesday of every month and hold space for local artists to share their work.
