Project snapshot

We at Friends of Tompkins Square Park have taken on an ambitious project to enrich our local ecosystem and enhance the community space in our vibrant neighborhood. Our team is excited to introduce our latest initiative – the creation of five new “Pollinator Pockets” in the southeast quadrant of the park, strategically located near the children’s playgrounds. These specially curated gardens aim to support and attract pollinators, promoting biodiversity and adding beauty to our neighborhood. But we’re not stopping there. We have also committed to adopting and caring for four street trees along the west perimeter of the park, between 9th and 10th Streets on Avenue A. This includes planting and maintaining tree beds, as well as installing protective tree guards.
