Project snapshot

Prothom Alo North America is a weekly newspaper located in New York that is widely read by the Bengali community. With the grant money, they plan to hire a staff member to source advertisements from local businesses and coordinate with city authorities. The newspaper also actively participates in the community, addressing their concerns and helping them integrate into mainstream society by organizing community events and digitally sharing their experiences. They provide job opportunities for seven people from the community, arrange exchange of views among Bangla writers, discuss civic issues such as voter registration and importance of voting, and raise awareness about LGBTQ issues. Furthermore, they purchase all production materials locally and volunteer their services for mental health counseling. Prothom Alo is committed to supporting its community by attending local events, hosting public events and motivating the people.
