Project snapshot

El Flamboyan Garden and its new Master Composting Farm School initiative are redefining how we approach sustainability and community engagement. After seeing the success of our Farm School, we realized the pressing need for better compost solutions in our community. Too often, we’ve been provided with unsuitable compost by the city, with chips too large for our garden beds, and faced challenges in composting efficiently at season’s end. To address these issues directly, we’ve focused on Master Composting, looking to create a tailored compost plan that reflects our community’s needs. In 2024, we’ll start collecting community food scraps, supporting the city’s 2025 food scrap composting rollout. This will lead to waste reduction and a solution to our rat problem.
