Project snapshot
The Friends of Graniteville Quarry has been actively engaging the local community for over a decade through biannual Community Day events. These events bring together diverse groups of volunteers to participate in planting and cleaning activities, fostering a sense of ownership, civic involvement, and mutual respect. We have built a strong network of participants, including students, parents, community leaders, and various professionals, through diligent outreach efforts. Our events have been successful in breaking down barriers and building relationships within the community. With support from NYC Parks Department and Partnership for Parks, we are committed to maintaining and enhancing the quarry as a city park.
