Project snapshot
Brooklyn FAM is empowering Brooklyn youth through the arts. Our project, the Brooklyn FAM Youth Fellowship, is a 10-month program that’s more than just an enrichment activity?it’s a movement. We’ve brought together three incredible individuals from Canarsie, Crown Heights, and Brighton Beach, representing the beautiful mosaic of Haitian, Dominican, and Ukrainian communities within Brooklyn. Every other month, we gather to sharpen skills ranging from communication to cultural competence and event production, all leading up to two youth-led events. These community arts event and open mic events are centered around creating belonging in our post-pandemic world. The impacts of COVID-19 on social development and mental health among youth cannot be understated, and through art and dialogue, we’re working to heal.
