Project snapshot

Since 2020, I have DJed countless events with music from the Chinatown Records archive. Despite this, 80% of the collections remain untouched due to their vast size. To preserve these community artifacts for future events and research, I need time, a team, and resources to organize the archive. In 2023, we secured a dedicated space, moving over 2,000 records out of my bedroom. This allows me to build a volunteer team to organize the archive, including long-time supporters and new volunteers with archiving and translation skills. Our goal is to preserve and share this music with the community. The organized archive will enrich community events and be accessible for research, helping to pass on Chinatown’s history for generations. To sustain and grow the project, we will seek ongoing funding through grants, donations, and partnerships.
