Project snapshot

De L’or Cakery creates unique, gourmet cake jars and cookie mixes that are shipped nationwide, and the business seeks grant funding for technological upgrades to improve their remote work models and expand into Amazon’s storage and shipping services. The Cakery is deeply community-oriented, engaging in numerous charitable initiatives such as volunteer teaching, cupcake donations, and fundraisers for at-risk middle school youth in East Harlem. As part of their ongoing commitment to the community, they offer culinary and baking classes to under-resourced schools and aim to establish a Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship program, with referrals from places like Rikers Island Juvenile Justice Department, foster care agencies, and local high schools.
