Rockaways Neighbors Helping Neighbors is focusing on empowering our community from the inside out. Unlike typical Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) that usually clock out by 5 PM, we recognize that real support doesn’t adhere to business hours. Our approach is grounded in the belief that we are the true experts on our struggles. With a unique model leveraging resident council boards across public housing, we extend hands-on assistance where CBOs fall short, working tirelessly after hours to address immediate needs. This initiative will strengthen our social skills and relationships through ongoing interaction, training, and collaborative efforts. By securing grants and contracts, we’re not just solving problems momentarily; we’re building a sustainable framework for continuous peer support.
