Project snapshot

The NYC Fair Trade Coalition (NYC FTC) is launching a cooperative marketplace in East Harlem to support small businesses that focus on sustainability. Building on the success of the Sustainable Fashion Community Center, this new initiative will create a hub for businesses centered on repair, zero waste, and technology, all promoting circular economy principles. The cooperative space will provide entrepreneurs with affordable retail opportunities, along with access to a classroom and co-showroom for collaboration and education. This project will also fund regular meetings and workshops to educate small businesses and individuals about cooperative ownership, helping them to join and benefit from this collective model. By offering a platform for emerging entrepreneurs, the marketplace will drive economic empowerment, reduce waste, and promote sustainability.
