El Sol Brillante Community Garden in the East Village stands out for its size and being a serene oasis. It’s a place where I can enjoy quiet moments outdoors, surrounded by lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and birds. Our diverse and inclusive membership adds to the garden’s charm, offering a variety of activities from soil remediation and planting to music events, poetry readings, and fabric dyeing days, ensuring there’s always something going on. Particularly important to the community is our role in providing a space for food scrap drop-off after the cessation of city-wide public locations, a testament to our commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
