Ella Baker PTA Family Equity Committee is supporting immigrant students and families who are learning English as a second language with social and material resources. This bilingual buddy program is pairing families and students with someone at the school that speaks their language so that they have access to information to navigate both the school and legal systems. Take-home school supplies are given to families to further address economic disparities as well. Providing this service will alleviate the stress of navigating environments designed for native English-speakers.
