Project snapshot

I am filling the gap left by the shutdown of the New York City Compost Project. Our community needs reliable food scrap drop-off sites to reduce landfill methane emissions, which are 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide at trapping heat. Without NYCCP, I focus on self-reliance and reducing our dependence on box trucks. I will process 30% of the collected material in a compost box, reducing processing fees by 40%. A human-powered bicycle trailer and walking will transport materials and equipment. Eight team members will take a composting course to ensure expertise. Our durable compost box and bicycle trailer will support long-term operations. We are also raising funds and becoming a nonprofit to qualify for more grants and City Council funding.
