Project snapshot

Brooklyn Greens is a community initiative focused on revitalizing our local neighborhoods by transforming neglected tree pits into flourishing micro-gardens. We’ve identified over 30 locations within Wilson Ave, Lafayette Ave, Troutman St, and Lewis Ave, areas notably divided by the barren Broadway. Our goal, supported by a grant, is to build 30 gardens in a year, each costing about $100 and a few hours of community effort. These gardens do more than beautify; they inspire residents to engage with their environment and each other. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive?people stop to admire, discuss, and even contribute to the garden’s upkeep. Our initiative not only fosters community spirit but also promotes environmental stewardship, one small garden at a time.
