Project snapshot
Brooklyn School of Excellence’s Voices of Our Neighborhood project is a youth-led, community-based oral history initiative where students interview elders from immigrant, refugee, and underserved communities, producing a multimedia digital archive, community exhibition, and print publication. The project preserves marginal narratives, strengthens intergenerational ties, teaches journalism and media production skills, and combats social isolation by amplifying unheard voices, enhancing cultural preservation and historical awareness across the neighborhood.
