Project snapshot

Mayday Space is behind the Mayday Festival of Resistance, a free outdoor event at Maria Hernandez Park that celebrates International Workers Day with music, art, political education, and mutual aid. This festival stands out as a reflection of our city’s vibrant creativity, featuring performances by NYC-based bands and DJs. This year is particularly special as we mark the 2-year anniversary of both our music school for Bushwick/Ridgewood immigrant youth and our visual arts program. It’s a jubilant time for our music school as we prepare for our first showcase as a BK-based cumbia band, with students presenting a cantastoria as the festival’s centerpiece.
