Empower My Hood Inc. (EMH) is expanding its College Access Services with a dedicated Essay Writing Techniques Workshop Series to address a critical gap in student writing skills—one of the biggest barriers to college acceptance and scholarships for underserved youth. While EMH already provides resources through its Annual College Fair, SAT Prep Courses, and College & Career Excursions, many students struggle with crafting compelling college essays due to limited access to writing instruction and feedback. This new initiative will offer structured workshops led by experienced educators, guiding students through brainstorming, storytelling, editing, and refining their personal statements. With individualized coaching and peer reviews, students will develop authentic, competitive essays that enhance their college applications. By bridging this educational gap, EMH will equip students with the skills needed for college admissions, scholarships, and long-term academic success, ultimately increasing college matriculation and retention rates in underserved communities.
