Project snapshot

The Playground Ambassador Project, led by FOMP, aims to foster a safe, welcoming environment for playground users of all ages, particularly amidst the current influx of new residents and asylum seekers. Overseeing six playgrounds near Mosholu Parkway, our project addresses the challenges posed by deep budget cuts to NYC PARK’s maintenance operations. This initiative will unite diverse park users, including parents, children, and seniors, to maintain clean and safe playgrounds. The project includes educational activities about NYC Parks’ historical and ecological value and community-building efforts like flower planting and clean-ups. Social media and community meetings will support outreach. Our goal is to create a vibrant playground community, transcending age and background. We aim to sustain this project through additional funding and support.
