Grandma’s Love Food Pantry at PS 503 and PS 506

Sunset Park, Brooklyn

Project snapshot

Our pantry project is vital for the PS 503/506 Sunset Park, Brooklyn school community. Many students qualify for free or reduced lunch and often face food insecurity over the weekends. My goal is to provide non-perishable food packages to these at-risk children and their families. We will partner with school parent coordinators, social workers, and the Center for Family Life to identify and support families in need. This collaboration ensures effective distribution and continuous communication with the families served. The project strengthens the school community by offering reliable support and easing the burden on families. We plan to sustain this initiative through fundraising events, private donations, and city council discretionary funding, ensuring ongoing support for our students.
