Harlem Lacrosse/Frederick Douglass Academy

Harlem, Manhattan

Project snapshot

The Harlem Lacrosse Community Clinic Program will introduce lacrosse to children aged 10 to 14 from Frederick Douglass Academy as well as those in NYCHA and other that live in affordable housing in the neighborhood. Held at the Milbank Community Center, these clinics teach the fundamentals of lacrosse, from stickhandling to basic game play. The sense of community is palpable, especially during the Harlem Bowl at Randall’s Island, where over 200 children and countless supporters come together to celebrate. Through these clinics, we are fostering a love for lacrosse and offering invaluable life-changing experiences for young participants that help them get into college; for every participant in our program goes on to college.
