Project snapshot

In·corpus is expanding its Pasifika Series to amplify Pasifika artistry and culture through a series of free community workshops in New York City. This initiative provides vital opportunities for engagement with the rich histories, languages, and dance traditions of the Pacific Islands, ensuring these cultural practices continue to thrive. Five workshops will be offered, featuring Hula (Hawaiian dance), Tuvalu dance, and language classes in Tongan, Hawaiian, and Samoan. These workshops, held at accessible venues like La MaMa and NYU’s Asian/Pacific/American Institute, will connect NYC-based Pasifika culture-bearers with community members from across the five boroughs. By creating spaces for learning, cultural exchange, and artistic expression, this project fosters cross-cultural understanding and strengthens community ties.
