Project snapshot
Manhattan Community Boathouse (MCBG) is growing its free river trip program to provide more opportunities for New Yorkers and visitors to explore the Hudson River through kayaking. Since 2013, MCBH has offered free kayaking to people of all ages, promoting physical health, mental well-being, and environmental stewardship. With a growing number of participants in their weekly programs, MCBH aims to increase the capacity of their river trips, expanding from 3 to 4 trips per season and doubling the number of participants per trip. By purchasing additional kayaks and equipment, MCBH will accommodate more paddlers and continue offering free, safe kayaking to the public. Expanding the program will also help recruit more volunteers, essential to keeping the program free for the community. With this expansion, MCBH will continue providing accessible outdoor experiences, benefiting both participants and the local waterfront community.
