Project snapshot

The Marie Brooks Community Garden serves the neighborhood of Morrisania in the Bronx, which is a community primarily composed of African American and Latin American residents. This project tackles environmental health issues, including poor air quality caused by industrial facilities and highways nearby, and the high rate of asthma exacerbated by poorly maintained NYCHA projects. By growing organic medicinal herbs that promote lung health, our garden offers a cost-effective, natural way to support respiratory wellness. Utilizing durable, chemical-free metal raised beds, we ensure sustainable and healthy gardening practices.
