Project snapshot

The NYC Service Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is launching a resource block party aimed at addressing food insecurity in neighborhoods with the highest need. Youth members of the YLC will research and identify communities with the greatest food insecurity rates, bringing together local vendors, city partners, and organizations to distribute food, groceries, and resources. The event will also provide information on housing, mental health, civic engagement, and family programming to support the well-being of residents. This initiative empowers young leaders by providing them with the tools to address pressing issues in their communities while fostering youth-adult partnerships. The block party aims to distribute over 100 meals or grocery bags and raise awareness about available resources. It will also culminate in an End-of-Year Summit, where youth leaders and adult facilitators can network, share best practices, and highlight the impact of their efforts on strengthening communities and improving access to vital resources.
