Long Island City, Queens

Project snapshot

Youth Climate Summit convenes an outdoor leadership event for middle and high school students on Governors Island to catalyze sustainable initiatives and youth-led climate action in public schools. Grant support funds keynote speakers, partnerships with local climate organizations, hands-on workshop materials, and low-waste merchandise (reusable water bottles and tote bags). It also funds a celebratory banquet for the Youth Leadership Council with zero-waste decorations, official certificates, and invitations to members’ families and school Sustainability Coordinators, reinforcing youth leadership pipelines and community engagement.
