PaleFO Cinema’s Canarsie Initiative is a response to the outdated framework of gang activity and violence that has negatively impacted the health, wellbeing and progression of the community. The initiative seeks to use film and social engagement to engage the youth in the area while disrupting crime activity by transforming hotspots of crime into hotspots of creativity. This will be done through partnering with schools to bring together the community for a multi-sensory outdoor cinema experience. The goal of this initiative is to empower youth, create meaningful civic engagement and ultimately lead to community revitalization.
