Project snapshot

SISTAAH Studios’ O.Y.E. Project is a groundbreaking initiative that fosters a vibrant arts community while supporting cancer survivors in Harlem. Our focus is on older adult African-American and Latino/a residents, providing them a local space to express their emotions and share their experiences. The project draws inspiration from the Creative Center Arts in Healthcare model, offering free arts workshops that enable participants to explore their creativity. These workshops have shown significant benefits, such as reducing anxiety, stress, and isolation among cancer survivors. To celebrate their journeys and the power of art in healing, we’ll conclude with a visual art exhibition and an event in October, during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, featuring a catalog of their work and stories.
