Sixth Street and Avenue B Community Garden

Lower East Side, Manhattan

Project snapshot

Sixth Street and Avenue B Community Garden is expanding its offering of hands-on botany, urban agriculture and sustainability education in partnership with local schools and organizations. Children and their parents are participating in the full gardening cycle from starting seeds, planting, maintaining crops to harvesting. Middle to high school youth are also leading cooking workshops for the younger kids to promote healthy eating and the interconnectivity of nature, climate and soil health.
