Project snapshot

The Ethiopian-Mediterranean restaurant Tsion Cafe in Harlem, NY, is dedicated to promoting food sovereignty and cultural pride through its healthy and nutritious menu. They are transforming into a company that produces their dishes for a larger retail audience, aiming to create a sustainable and equitable food ecosystem. With the grant, they plan to invest in inventory, packaging, marketing, staffing, and technology upgrades to support their transition. Tsion Cafe also engages with the local community by providing workforce development opportunities, hosting cultural events, supporting local artists, and partnering with organizations for community initiatives.
