This program will train 20 Latinx children and youth, ages 9-18, in filmmaking and production, culminating in a short film screened at the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival. Over an 8-week period in September and October, participants will learn from industry professionals about staging, lighting, camera angles, sound, and editing. They will create their films using professional equipment and smartphones or iPads. The goal is to provide Latinx youth with the skills and knowledge to consider filmmaking as a career, addressing the industry’s lack of diversity. This program encourages storytelling and community connection through film.
