Inspired by the social disparity I see in my community, my project aims to give voice to recent immigrants in Brooklyn, often overlooked amid gentrification. Through empathetic portraiture, we seek to counter the narrative of invisibility and foster a spirit of abundance and interconnectedness. Partnering with a local outreach organization, we’ll photograph and produce large prints of 100 immigrants displayed in community spaces. Local businesses will provide wall space, embedding transient faces into the fabric of Brooklyn. We’ll create weatherproof prints with community printers, ensuring sustainability beyond the grant. This initiative promotes inclusivity and celebrates Brooklyn’s diversity, challenging historical biases in visual representation.
