Staten Island Moravian Community Garden is building new compost bins to fill the gaps left by the currently disintegrated system. With compost sourced from this new system, garden members are fertilizing the garden and teaching students and community members to care for the environment. The garden is also donating harvested fresh vegetables to local residents, soup kitchens and food pantries.
