Project snapshot
The Friends of Jackie Robinson Park Playground (FOJRPP) is focused on expanding their “Free Friends Fest Fridays”, a vibrant community event that takes place every Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM, from the first Friday after Juneteenth to mid-August. This initiative brings together local residents for a series of engaging workshops, activities, performances, and installations. The goal is to create a welcoming space where neighbors can connect, share resources, and build relationships in a safe and inclusive environment. In addition to the cultural and recreational activities, “Free Friends Fest Fridays” coincides with “Free Tennis Fridays,” offering intergenerational tennis instruction for all skill levels. This combination of activities ensures that everyone in the community has an opportunity to participate, whether they’re interested in sports, arts, or simply spending time with friends. The event also features interactive displays for community input on park improvements and showcases local artists, fostering both creativity and community engagement.
