Project snapshot

The Staten Island Hunger Task Force is empowering youth to play a vital role in the fight against food insecurity through a new initiative focused on data collection and pantry support. Young volunteers will be trained to assist local food pantries in navigating complex reporting systems, ensuring that they can accurately track and analyze the impact of their services. By learning to use tracking software, youth participants will gain valuable technical and organizational skills while directly supporting the community. They will help pantries document attendance, demographic data, and food distribution patterns—critical information for securing funding and improving services. Additionally, volunteers will assist pantries in using social media and communication tools to strengthen outreach and engagement. Through this initiative, young people will gain firsthand experience in community service, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful connections with local organizations.
