Project snapshot

Art Loisaida Foundation updates and republishes The Thin Green Line by revising text and graphics, commissioning essays from active community gardeners, and documenting 51 Lower East Side community gardens with new photography. The project funds graphic design, honoraria, printing, and distribution to libraries, elected officials, schools, and nonprofits, and culminates in a public program featuring contributors. It preserves and amplifies community-managed green space narratives, strengthens advocacy for retention of neighborhood gardens, and informs urban planning and local stakeholders.
