Project snapshot

Elisa’s Love Bites, a woman-owned bakery, was founded by Panamanian chef Elisa Lyew. In addition to desserts, they offer healthful drinks, snacks, and Panamanian coffee beans. They also partner with Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, a 501c3 non-profit organization leading the charge against food waste, to ensure surplus food is not wasted and is donated to community members who experience food insecurity. They also routinely partner with other local organizations and assist with their fundraising efforts, such as The Lower Eastside Girls Club of NY, Loisaida CommUnity, and more. Elisa’s Love Bites and chef Elisa Lyew are active members of ROC United’s Raise, a coalition of restaurant owners committed to implement and advocate for positive changes to the restaurant industry. Committed to employee well-being, they provide fair wages and a safe work environment. To increase revenue and sustain long-term growth, they plan on investing in marketing and store enhancements, extending operating hours, and hiring more staff.
