Project snapshot

This project is a recurring cycle of literary readings that brings Latin American literature to life through short stories and essays. Held three times a year, it aims to strengthen cultural engagement and community participation in Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, and other Queens neighborhoods. Each event features three to five brief readings followed by an interactive discussion, fostering a deeper connection to literature. Additionally, literary coaching sessions will equip community members with vocal reading and hosting skills, enhancing their confidence and interpretative abilities. By featuring works from authors like Julio Cortázar, Rosario Castellanos, and Horacio Quiroga, the project encourages intercultural dialogue and reflections on identity, diversity, and social issues. Storytelling and essays, as accessible literary forms, promote a love for reading while transforming attendees into active cultural participants. This initiative not only celebrates Latin American literary heritage but also empowers the community through shared storytelling and meaningful discussions.
