Project snapshot
The East Harlem El Barrio Community Land Trust (EHEBCLT) is deepening its commitment to community-controlled, permanently affordable housing through an initiative focused on resident engagement and education. With over 50% of East Harlem residents rent-burdened, this project ensures that housing development aligns with the needs and desires of the community. Through surveys, public information sessions, and resident workshops, EHEBCLT will gather input on housing priorities, governance structures, and support needed for tenants. These sessions will also educate residents about the CLT model, empowering them to take an active role in preserving affordable housing and preventing displacement. Additionally, EHEBCLT will engage with current residents of properties under consideration for acquisition and rehabilitation, addressing concerns and ensuring transparency throughout the process.
