Project snapshot
Fred McLeod Community Garden will retrofit the site to enhance accessibility and programmatic capacity for seniors and people with disabilities. Upgrades include elevated planting tables, raised beds, soft accessible pathways, and adaptive gardening tools. A complete solar kit and portable power station will provide off‑grid electricity for lighting, device charging, and Wi‑Fi to support programming. The project also implements intergenerational programs—herbal workshops, storytelling, shared gardening—and constructs an outdoor classroom to facilitate educational activities and community events. By improving safety, access, and connectivity, the project increases equitable participation, social cohesion, and local food security.
